Princeton Fire and Rescue Department members Jerry Palmer, Glen Young, Brandon Stalion and Corey Peters placed third in the Team Rescue competition of the Kentucky EMS Olympic State Finals held Tuesday, Sept. 14.
The Olympics were held during the Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo in Owensboro.
In the team rescue competition, rescuers were responsible for the recovery of victims involved in a mock boat accident.
The team was given information typical of that normally received from a caller, then led into the competition area.
They found an overturned boat with one victim trapped underneath, one unconscious person floating in the water and one dead body floating in the water.
Members of the team were responsible for tending to the victims’ immediate medical needs, as well as rescue and extrication of the victims.
The Princeton team placed first in the team rescue competition at last year’s Kentucky EMS Olympics, said Fire Chief Brent Francis.
