Monday…

Sept. 19…It’s Caldwell County Middle School SPIRIT WEEK Monday through Friday. FOOTBALL HOMECOMING is Tuesday with game festivities beginning at 5 p.m. The HOMECOMING DANCE is Friday from 6-9 p.m. Also, the CCMS student council and COPE Center are co-sponsoring a NECESSITY DRIVE to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Sept. 19…The WATERCOLOR ARTISTS GUILD of Trigg, Lyon and Caldwell counties will meet Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Princeton Art Guild.

Sept. 19…The Caldwell County Primary School SBDM CURRICULUM/INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES COMMITTEE meets Monday at 2:45 p.m.

Sept. 19…The Caldwell County ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SBDM meets on Monday at 4 p.m. at the school.

Sept. 19…Princeton CITY COUNCIL meets Monday at 5 p.m. in City Hall.

Sept. 19…A COOPER CLAYTON SMOKING CESSATION CLASS is planned on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Caldwell County Health Department. Call the health department at 365-6571 to sign up.

Sept. 19…The Caldwell County BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet Monday at the Caldwell County Primary School. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and a meeting with the School-Based Decision Making Council. The regular monthly board meeting will follow at 7 p.m. in the Primary School library.

Sept. 19…The Pennyrile Prophets Christian Motorcyclist meeting is Monday at 6 p.m. at Ryan’s in Hopkinsville.

Sept. 19…The FREDONIA CITY COUNCIL will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at city hall.

Sept. 19…A BEGINNING GENEALOGY WORKSHOP is set Monday at 7 p.m. at the George Coon Library, limited to 25 participants with pre-registration. Instructor is Brenda Joyce Jerome.

Tuesday…

Sept. 20…Story Hour will be held at the George Coon Library at 10 a.m. Tuesday for children ages preschool through kindergarten.

Sept. 20…Light Exercise for Senior Citizens is scheduled in the Caldwell County Hospital basement Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. The class is free and open to all interested persons.

Sept. 20…Princeton Rotary Club meets Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at the Majestic House.

Sept. 20…Caldwell County RHYMING POETRY SOCIETY meets Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the George Coon Library. Deane Renshaw will present the program. The session is open to all persons interested in poetry.

Sept. 20…The Caldwell County REPUBLICAN WOMEN will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Majestic House.

Sept. 20…A WEIGHT WATCHER group meets Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Housing Authority Community Building (301 Knob St.) in Eddyville.

Sept. 20…AL-ANON, for people affected by someone else’s drinking, meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pennyroyal Mental Health Center on McGoodwin Avenue. For information, call 365-1413.

Sept. 21…The Princeton-Caldwell County CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Board of Directors meets Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

Sept. 21…Living Hope Pregnancy Care Ministry offers a PARENTING CLASS each Wednesday, 10-11:30 a.m. at the Mary Jane Jones Community Building at 108 W. Green St. Persons who want more information can call Cheryl Bowers at 365-3855.

Sept. 21…The Princeton Kiwanis Club meets at noon Wednesday at the Majestic House.

Sept. 21…The Caldwell County WEIGHT WATCHERS meet Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Pennyrile Regional Training Center, 20001 Hwy. 62W, with weigh-in at 4:30 p.m.

Sept. 22…Expectant mothers in the area are invited to The World’s Greatest Baby Shower on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the UK Research and Education Center in Princeton. Those who want to register to attend may call Bebby Lewis at the Caldwell County Health Department at 365-6571 or call Chris Rivera at the Extension Office at 365-2787.

Sept. 23…FREE FRIDAY FLICKS are planned at Ogden Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Movies will be shown in the church parking lot.

Sept. 24…The Pennyrile Strutters Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host an annual JAKE’S DAY EVENT on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 pm. at the James Wilson Farm located on Hwy. 70. For additional information, persons can call 365-7246.

Sept. 24…The second annual McGREGOR CEMETERY CLEANING AND BUSINESS MEETING will be held at the cemetery on Needmore Road on Saturday with business at 11 a.m. followed by potluck at noon.

Sept. 24…The Hollingsworth School Reunion will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pagliai's Restaurant.

Sept. 25…The fifth year WALLONIA BAPTIST CHURCH HOMECOMING is planned on Sunday with worship service at 11 a.m. followed by dinner. The next homecoming is in 2010.

Oct. 1…The JANE NICHOLS CEMETERY business meeting and potluck is planned Saturday. The business meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the meal to follow at noon. The cemetery organization asks all persons interested in the cemetery to attend the meeting.

Oct. 6…The Pennyroyal Center THERAPEUTIC FOSTER CARE PROGRAM will be at the George Coon Library on Thursday from 1-5 p.m. Program representatives will distribute information about how to be a foster parent in Caldwell County.

Oct. 8…The CALDWELL COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1986 will meet to begin organizing a 20-year reunion. The meeting will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pagliai’s Restaurant. The organizers urge all interested classmates to attend.

••If any person is MISSING A PET, contact the CHRISTIAN COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER (887-4175). Not only are animals taken there by the local Animal Control Officer, but private citizens also drop off “found” animals.

••SANCTUARY INC. serves victims of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence. Sanctuary Inc. provides free supportive counseling to victims. Also, Sanctuary Inc. provides a place to stay and counseling for victims. Persons may call 1-800-766-0000 for information or assistance.

••In His Hands Humane Society, Inc. has a program designed to assist financially disadvantaged pet owners with the cost of spaying or neutering personal pets. For more information, persons can contact 388-2131 during the hours of 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Wednesday. Leave a message if there is no answer.

••Contact the Kentucky Department of Agriculture FARM CHEMICAL COLLECTION HOTLINE at 1-800-205-6543 to dispose of old, unusable or unwanted farm chemicals.

••The Caldwell County ADULT LEARNING CENTER hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The center is located in the Butler Annex building on West Washington Street. Persons wanting more information may call 365-8052.

••A DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS VOLUNTEER VAN transports veterans from the Murray area to Nashville’s VA Medical Center. The service is free. Veterans who need to arrange transportation to the VA facility can contact Jim Clemens at 270-436-6343.

••KENTUCKY FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM serves people 60 and over who are interested in working with a child at least 15 hours per week in a school system in Caldwell, Hopkins, or Christian counties. Those who qualify earn an hourly stipend. For information persons can contact (270) 797-3771.

••The American Red Cross local satellite office, 365-2408, is open Monday through Friday 3-4 p.m. in the EMS building.

••The Kentucky State Police Post 2 at Madisonville and POST 1 at Mayfield are certified as child safety check stationS. Parents can go to Post 2 between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon on Wednesdays to have car seats inspected. State Police personnel will advise parents on how to properly install car seats, placement in the vehicle and any reported recalls.
