Local men linked to equipment theft

Two Princeton men were arrested Wednesday evening in connection with thefts reported from Mechanic and Cox streets the same day.

Malcolm K. Rhodes, 48, and Robert K. Ford, 31, both of Eagon Street, were arrested at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, each on one count of receiving stolen property over $300 and one count of receiving stolen property under $300.

Investigation began when officers spoke to John Loftus, of Eagle Street, who said that a radial arm saw and two air compressors had been stolen from a job site at 801 Mechanic St., sometime between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. He valued the items at more than $750.

Officers also spoke to Cox Street resident Debbie Rickard, who said that sometime between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, someone had forced entry into her garage and stole a Homelite weedeater, a Poulan chainsaw and a toolbox containing an assortment of tools. She valued those items at more than $450.

Investigation led officers to 303 Eagon St., the residence of Rhodes and Ford. Police recovered some of the stolen items there. Rhodes and Ford were taken into custody and lodged in the county jail.

• Amanda R. Rogers, 27, of Princeton Olney Road, was arrested and jailed at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday on charges of no brake lights, failure to wear a seat belt and possession of a controlled substance, third degree, after police stopped the 1994 Mitsubishi she was driving for traffic violations.

During a search, officers found several tablets of Lorcet, a schedule III narcotic.

• At 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, officers arrested and jailed Dion L. Boyd, 23, of North Plum Street, on a charge of violating a Kentucky DVO/EPO after responding to the 500 block of North Seminary Street regarding the violation.

• Police are investigating a theft reported by a White Plains resident Wednesday.

Courtney N. Williams told officers that sometime between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, while she was in Princeton, someone stole a Microsoft Zune MP3 player from her vehicle.

She valued the player at $250.
