Today…

June 4…The Princeton Kiwanis Club meets Wed­nes­day at noon at the Majestic House.

Thursday…

June 5…Caldwell County Hospital EXERCISE FOR SEN­IORS will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday in the hospital basement. The activity is free.

June 5…The American Red Cross will be holding a community blood drive at Princeton First Baptist on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. Persons who want more in­­formation or who want to schedule an appointment to donate blood can contact Anita James at 365-0229. Walk-ins are welcome.

June 5…The FREDONIA CLOTHES CLOSET is open Thurs­days from 1-3 p.m. at the Fre­donia First Baptist Church Family Life Center. (Old Fre­donia School, use double door entrance at the back of the building.) Any person in need of clothing is welcome. The Clothes Closet is once again accepting clothes.

June 5…The Caldwell County Free Clinic opens at 5 p.m. Thursday in the basement of Central Pres­by­terian Church.

June 5-7… The annual Eddie Pennington Folk Festival will present three days of live entertainment beginning Thursday. Festivities kick off Thursday with the Pennington Folk Festival Back­stage Square Dance, a new event. The Back Stage Square Dance will be held behind the Pennington stage off West Washington Street. It begins at 6 p.m. A talent contest opens on Friday morning at 10 a.m. with preliminary rounds and the final round action on Satur­day at 3 p.m. Sign-up for the talent competition begins at 9 a.m. Friday in the Butler Auditorium. A $10 entry fee will be charged with all proceeds going to the Caldwell County Band Boost­ers. Guitar champion, recording artist Eddie Pennington of Princeton will serve as emcee for the folk festival Friday night and Saturday. The fare ranges from bluegrass to blues. Performers take the stage Friday night at 6 p.m. and play through the evening. The performances begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The event is held on the Butler lawn. Food concessions will be available. A Princeton Art Guild presentation, the festival is free to the public.

June 5…The Caldwell County HISTORICAL SOCIETY will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the George Coon Library. Phyllis Niemi will speak to the group about “covered bridges.”

Friday…

June 6…The CRAYNE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION will have its annual FISH FRY on Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Crayne. Serving begins at 4 p.m. Donations are accepted for the upkeep of the cemetery.

Saturday…

June 7…The KNOTT MUSEUM at 302 Nichols St. is open for tours Saturday from 1-5 p.m. A musical performance at 3 p.m. features Morgan Garner. Admission is free. For tours and information, persons can call Yvonne Dodge at 365-5223.

June 7…A DOWNTOWN CRUISE-IN/BENEFIT CAR SHOW is planned Saturday by the Lakeland Cruisers. Activities are planned from 4 to 9 p.m. with vehicles parked around the courthouse square. For more information, persons can call 625-1800. The group welcomes others who have older cars to display.

Sunday…

June 8…CELEBRATE RECOVERY, a Christian 12-step program for addiction co-dependency, any other hurts, habits and hangups is planned Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in the Northside Baptist Church Sanctuary. A meal is served and the group extends a welcome to all interested.

Monday…

June 9-13…VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held at Eddyville 2nd Baptist Church Monday through Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A Kickoff will be held at the church on Sunday at 3 p.m.

••If any person is MISSING A PET, contact the local ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER at 365-4652 or the CHRIS­TIAN COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER (887-4175). Volun­teers and foster families are being recruited for the assistance of the Caldwell County shelter.

••Caldwell County’s 2008 Relay for Life campaign has established an Internet presence. Visit the site, http://events.cancer.org/rflcaldwellky, to start or join a team or make an online donation. This year’s Relay, a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society, will be held June 13-14.

June 10, 17, 24…The George Coon Library summer reading program, “Catch the Reading Bug!” will be held Tuesday afternoons from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Upcoming topics are insects, insect control and honeybees. Persons who want information can call the libraary at 365-2884.

June 10…NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), a support group for family and friends of people with a mental illness, will meet on Tuesday, 6-7:30 p.m. at Western State Hospital’s training center (on top of hill, around back). A NAMI connection consumer-led support group will also meet at the same time. Mental health advance directives will be discussed. Any person with questions can call Marcia Bell at 719-0648.

June 11…The Princeton-Caldwell Coun­ty CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Board of Directors will meet Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Chamber office. This is a change from the regular meeting date.

June 11…RADIANT RED HATS will meet at the Creamery on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

June 13…Registration for the Pro­­­gressive Agriculture Safe­­­ty Day planned June 26 at the UK Research and Education Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. has been extended until Friday, June 13.

June 13…The Wetheads Swim­ming Group of Trover Sports Fitness Center will meet Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Pagliai’s Restaurant. Marie Rushing will host the event. All interested individuals are invited to attend.

June 13…The FLAT ROCK SCHOOL REUNION will be held Friday at the Fre­donia Lions Club Building. The ev­ent begins at 4:30 p.m. with a potluck meal at 6 p.m. (This is a change of date and time.) For information, per­­sons can call Joanne Winn at 545-7118 or Justine Harper at 545-3965.

June 13-14…Caldwell County RELAY FOR LIFE is planned Friday at 6 p.m. through Saturday at 6 a.m. at Tiger Stadium on the Caldwell County High School campus.

June 13-14…Eternal Vision of Knox­ville, Tenn., will be in concert Friday and Saturday to benefit Martha’s Vineyard. The Friday concert will be 7-9 p.m. at the Heartland Worship Center, 4777 Alben Barkley Drive, Paducah, and the concert Saturday will be 6-8 p.m. at the Gospel Mission Church, 6905 Benton Road, Paducah.

June 14…A FATHER’S DAY BREAK­FAST is planned Saturday from 6 to 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of St. James CP Church on North Donnivan Street. The event is hosted by the Community Disciples. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door or in advance from Community Disciples members.

June 14…The Fredonia High School Alumni Association Reunion will be held on Saturday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring memorabilia and share at the school from 3-5 p.m.

June 21…A CELEBRATE RECOVERY BAR-B-Q FUND-RAISER is planned on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot on U.S. 62-West. Pre-orders can be placed by calling 270-365-6613.
