Fredonia’s first parade in more than 50 years will roll down Cassidy Avenue starting at 10 a.m. Friday, July 4.
The Independence Day parade was originally scheduled to take place on Memorial Day, but heavy rain forced its postponement.
Organizers have now set their sights on the fourth of July and are inviting the public to attend.
Those participating in the parade will meet at the old Fredonia school at 9 a.m. that Friday.
All military veterans, in particular, are invited to participate. “We will have floats for all veterans to ride on,” said Linda Bennett, one of those organizing the event.
Organizers are also inviting all the community’s children to participate by riding their bicycles in the parade.
In addition to the veterans and children, the parade will also feature a variety of floats, antique cars, trucks and tractors. A small reception will follow the parade in the Buddy Rogers park.
