Elbert Egbert, 87, of Calvert City, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 1:30 a.m. at Hilltop Nursing Home at Kuttawa following a short illness.

A World War II Air Force veteran, retired forklift driver at SKW at Calvert City and member of First Baptist Church of Calvert City, he was born July 19, 1920, in Caldwell County, a son of the late Wesley and Leona Henson Egbert.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Prince Egbert; a daughter, Wilma Harmon; and three brothers, Roy Egbert, James Egbert and Albert Egbert.

Survivors include a son, Tony Egbert of Calvert City; a daughter, Martha Martin of Eddyville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Egbert of Caldwell County and Jack Egbert of Madisonville; a sister, Louise Kilgore of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 5, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

The Rev. Wayne Glass will officiate the service.

Burial with graveside military rites will follow at Eddy Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
