Two men facing first-degree rape charges were indicted by a Caldwell County grand jury meeting in interim session this week.
The grand jury met Tuesday and returned three felony indictments and two no true bills.
• Jeffery O. Jackson, 26, of 1224 Fairview Church Road, was indicted for first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
The charges stem from incidents alleged to have occurred in 2007 involving a female victim who was 7 years old at the time.
Jackson was arrested on May 29. He remains lodged in the county jail on a $150,000 cash bond.
• Joseph Eugene Robinson, 49, of 106 Cox St., was indicted for first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.
The incident reportedly occurred on May 14. Robinson was arrested the next day. He remains jailed on a $100,000 cash bond.
• Anthony Wilson, 21, of 400 West Green St., was indicted on charges of fleeing or evading a police officer, first degree, fleeing or evading a police officer, second degree, first-degree wanton endangerment and speeding 26 or more miles per hour over the limit.
The charges stem from a March 16 incident. Wilson remains jailed on a bond of $25,000 cash or $50,000 property.
In other cases presented to the grand jury:
• James Youngblood, 34, of 405 Hopewell St., Madisonville, had a no true bill returned on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and having no operator’s or moped license.
• Sam Smith, 43, of 463 Whilshire Road, Apt. 24, Madisonville, had a no true bill returned on a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
• Eleven cases were continued until the next grand jury session. Defendants in those cases include: James L. Thomas, Danney S. Perry, Brandon H. Frederick, Adam W. Andrews, Brian K. Bender, Kevin Gamblin, Karen Hanna, Andrew Smothers, Phillip L. Thacker, Gregory W. Walker and Lynee R. Wingo.
