Caldwell County’s newest physician will open the doors of her family practice to the community in less than a month.

Dr. Jami Perry and the staff of Perry Family Medical will open their doors on Monday, Sept. 15. The office is located on U.S. 62 West (the former Kwik Cash building), next to Sonic.

A Crittenden County native, Perry completed undergraduate work and medical school at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

She is completing a three-year residency this week with the Trover Foundation in Madisonville.

Her intentions, she said Thursday, were always to stay close to her home.

“I’m from a small town, and I’ve always wanted to come back to a smaller town,” she said.

Her husband, Ryan Perry, also hails from Crittenden County and now serves as the pharmacy director at Caldwell County Hospital.

The Perrys are building a home in Princeton to rear their two children.

“It’s better to be close to home,” she said.

Hospital officials recruited Perry to the community and will oversee the clinic’s operation.

“We’re extremely excited to have Jami come into the community and the hospital,” said CEO Charles Lovell Jr.

“She’s from this area, so it’s keeping healthcare close to home. Also, having a female family practice physician, I think, is a great plus for the community.”

The office building on U.S. 62 is undergoing a total remodel in anticipation of Perry’s opening.

Two staff members, a receptionist and a medical assistant, have already been hired and are currently in training through the hospital.

The hospital plans to obtain rural health clinic designation for Perry’s practice. Doing so would mean the addition of a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant to the clinic’s staff, she said.

The clinic will offer family care to patients of all ages, and employees will begin taking appointments on Monday, Sept. 8. To make an appointment, call the clinic at (270) 365-9455.

Perry comes into the community as one of its youngest physicians and hopes to continue her practice here for as long as possible.

“We want to be somewhere where our kids can grow up,” she said. “This is a long-term plan.”
