Sept. 10…A Parent Workshop is planned Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. in the Butler Annex Board Room.

Sept. 10…The RADIANT RED HATS meet Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Lite Side Bakery and Cafe in Grand Rivers.

Sept. 10…The Princeton Kiwanis Club meets Wed­nes­day at noon at the Majestic House.

Thursday…

Sept. 11…Caldwell County Hospital EXERCISE FOR SEN­IORS will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday in the hospital basement. The activity is free.

Sept. 11…The FREDONIA CLOTHES CLOSET at the Fre­donia First Baptist Church Family Life Center will be closed until Oct. 2, as the transition is made from summer to fall/winter clothing. The plan is to reopen the clothes closet on the first Thursday in October.

Sept. 11…The LYON County Fiscal Court meets Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Lyon County Courthouse.

Sept. 11…Woodmen of the World Lodge 92 plans a 911 ceremony on Thursday at 4 p.m. with a flagpole dedication at the Caldwell County High School Boys and Girls Soccer field behind the Butler Building.

Sept. 11…The Caldwell County WA­TER DISTRICT board of directors meets Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the district office at 118 W. Market Street. The meeting is public.

Sept. 11…The Caldwell County Free Clinic opens at 5 p.m. Thursday in the basement of Central Pres­by­terian Church.

Sept. 11…The Caldwell County Railroad His­torical Society meets Thursday at 6 p.m. at the railroad museum.

Sept. 11…The Caldwell County CLASS OF 1988 CLASS REUNION registration deadline has been extended to Thurs­day. Persons who have not received registration forms can contact the planning committee at 365-6609.

Friday…

Sept. 12…The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center is holding a community blood drive Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wal-Mart. All blood types are needed, especially O Negative and A Negative. Volunteer blood donors must be age 17 to donate blood, and 16-year-olds may donate with parents’ consent. All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors must check all medications with staff, most medications are acceptable. Donors must wait 56 days between whole blood donations. Sept. 12…First Southern National Bank will host a COMMUNITY APPRECIATION CELEBRATION on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the main office at 101 W. Washington St. BBQ sandwiches and all the trimmings are provided. Drawings will be held for a chance at the “money machine.”

Sept. 12…The Wethead swimming group of the Trover Fitness Formula will meet Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Pagliai’s Restaurant. Margaret Fryar will be hostess. Anyone interested is invited to attend.

Sept. 12…Clinton Masonic Lodge #82 F&AM will have a Stated Communication on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. A meal is planned at 6:30 p.m. The lodge extends an invitation to all master masons to attend.

Saturday…

Sept. 13…Shep McDowell will be making his bicycle cancer awareness ride to Nashville on Saturday. This will be Ride to Music City X. Mc­­Dowell will leave from Cedar Bluff Bap­tist Church parking lot at 5:30 a.m. There will be a prayer service at 5:15 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come out and support him.

Sept. 13…The Lyon County Christian Men’s Fel­lowship Breakfast is scheduled Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Community Life Center Kuttawa Methodist Church.

Sept. 13…Lucky Strike Lanes will have YOUTH BOWLING LEAGUE SIGN UPS on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Sept. 13…A DEMOCRAT RALLY and fund-raiser for judge/executive candidate Brock Thomas is planned Sat­urday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Regional Fire Training Center. Lt. Gov. Daniel Mon­giardo is the featured speaker. Food is available. The Caldwell County Demo­­cratic Women’s Club will conduct a silent auction.

Sept. 13…Kuttawa Flotilla U.S. Coast Guard Auxili­ary is offering a one-day free safe boating class on Sat­­urday at the Lyon County Public Library in Eddyville. The class begins at 7:30 a.m. and concludes by 4:30 p.m. There is a nominal fee of $20 to cover the textbook and materials. Some of the subject matter covered in the course includes: Know Your Boat, Before You Get Underway, Navigating the Water­ways, Operating Your Boat/PWC Safely, Legal Re­­quirements of Boating, Boat­ing Emergencies…What to Do, and Enjoying Water Sports with Your Boat. Sept. 13…The 3rd Annual RIDE FOR BRIGHT LIFE is planned Saturday. The ride begins at 10 a.m. in Elkton with registration at 9 a.m. The event is 75-mile ride across country to benefit Bright Life Farms. T-shirts, doorprizes and live music planned. Sept. 13…The Caldwell County CREEKMUR CEMETERY ANNUAL MEETING is planned on Saturday. All interested are welcome to attend. A pot-luck lunch is planned at noon. Any persons who wish to donate to the cemetery upkeep, but cannot attend the meeting can contact Jimmy Buntin at 797-5085 or Daphne Wallace at 797-5039.

Sept. 13…The Lyon County Master Gardener “Registered Back­­yard Wildlife Habitat” tour is planned for Saturday. The tour is open from 1-3 p.m. and will be at 121 Spring Hill Drive, Eddyville. The tour features a Registered Backyard Habi­tat. Persons who want to carpool can meet at the Lyon County Extension Office at 12:30 p.m. Call for reservations at 388-2341.

Sept. 13…The Princeton Art Guild Courtyard will be dedicated on Saturday afternoon in the memory of Rebecca Lisanby. A RECEPTION is planned from 3-5 p.m. to greet the Lisanby family and witness the dedication. “Rebecca Hollingsworth Lisanby: A Retrospective” is an exhibit of artwork current on display in the Guild Gallery through Sept. 1.

Plan ahead...

Sept. 14…His Song will be singing at Glenn’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 344 Glenn’s Chapel Road, Eddyville, on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Sept. 14…A homecoming celebration is planned on Sunday at Friendship United Metho­dist Church in Lyon County. A highlight of the service at 11:15 a.m. will be a call to worship with the ringing of an old-fashioned church bell. Don Gabbard, a former Friendship pastor, will preach. A basket lunch is planned at noon. Pastor Leon Depalma and the congregation invite everyone to attend.

Sept. 14…An ICE CREAM SOCIAL is planned Sunday, 2-4 p.m., at Rose Hill, the Lyon County Museum in the historic district of Old Eddyville.

Sept. 15…The LAKES AREA GOP CLUB will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at the Lyon County Public Library. State Sen. Ken Winters will address the club. The club encourages all interested persons to attend.

Sept. 18…The Caldwell County RE­­PUB­­LICAN WOMEN’S CLUB will hold its regular meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Majestic Steak House. Visitors are welcome.
