Thursday…

Oct. 9, 10, 11…Mediacom Communications in Princeton and Caldwell County will begin distributing new digital set-top boxes that some customers will need to use to receive digital signals on televisions not equipped for digital reception. To receive a digital converter box and learn about the conversion to digital TV, Mediacom is inviting customers to attend open house events designed to inform them of the change from analog to digital television. Open house festivities will be held 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Mediacom’s office at 325 N. Plum St.

Oct. 9…Caldwell County Hospital EXERCISE FOR SEN­IORS will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday in the hospital basement. The activity is free.

Oct. 9…PEPB Customer Appreciation Day is planned Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The PEPB staff will serve hot dogs and drinks. PEPB is observing national Public Power Week Oct. 5 through 11.

Oct. 9…The FREDONIA CLOTHES CLOSET is open Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. at the Fre­donia First Baptist Church Family Life Center. (Old Fre­donia School, use double door entrance at the back of the building.) Any person in need of clothing is welcome. Also, the clothes closet is currently accepting clothing.

Oct. 9…The LYON County Fiscal Court meets Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Lyon County Courthouse.

Oct. 9…The Caldwell County WA­TER DISTRICT board of directors meets Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the district office at 118 W. Market Street. The meeting is public.

Oct. 9…The Caldwell County Free Clinic opens at 5 p.m. Thursday in the basement of Central Pres­by­terian Church.

Oct. 9…The Caldwell County Railroad His­torical Society meets Thursday at 6 p.m. at the railroad museum.

Oct. 9…The Princeton KIWANIS CLUB will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Princeton Golf and Country Club for installation of officers. The club will not meet Wednesday this week.

Friday…

Oct. 10…The Wetheads Swimming Group meets Fri­day at 11:30 a.m. at Pagliai’s Restaurant. Charlene Bow­ker is hostess. Everyone is invited to attend.

Oct. 10…The Caldwell County Class of 1988 20-year reunion has changed the starting time for the Friday night gathering. The event is now planned to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the CCHS cafeteria.

Oct. 10…CLINTON MASONIC LODGE #82 F&AM will have a stated communication on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. A meal is planned at 6:30 p.m. All brothers are urged to attend.

Saturday…

Oct. 11…The KUTTAWA METHODIST MEN will hold a frellowhsip breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Kuttawa Methodist Community Life Center building. Speaker will be Hylan Gray, Director of LANAN (Lyon Association of Neighbors Assisting Neighbors). The meeting is nondenominational, all men are invited. Oct. 11…A HAM RADIO CLASS will be presented by the Princeton Ham Radio Club on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Caldwell County EMS Building. A test for technician license will be given at 4 p.m.

Oct. 11…WOODMEN OF THE WORLD YOUTH LODGE 815 will meet at “The Pumpkin Patch” on Farmersville Road at 1 p.m. Saturday. Youth will go on a hayride, enjoy both corn mazes and pick a pumpkin. Oct. 11…Lyon County American Legion Post 68 will host an Open House at its new building on Lakeshore Drive in Kuttawa, at 2 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is invited to attend.

Oct. 11…COME TOGETHER DAY is planned Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. in Dotson Park. The event is hosted by the Community Disciples, who will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs with other refreshments available.

Oct. 7-Dec. 2…Parenting Classes are offered Tues­days at 6:30 p.m., at the Mary Jane Jones Community Center, 108 W. Green St. Classes, sponsored by Living Hope Pregnancy and Family Care Center, are free. Oct. 13…The opening of the Democratic Headquar­ters in the former office of Dr. Frank Giannini on South Jefferson Street, is planned Monday at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be served.

Oct. 13…The annual LAKES AREA GOP CLUB COLUM­BUS DAY PICNIC will be Monday at 5 p.m. at the large pavilion at Kuttawa beach. Club members will provide hot dogs, sides and drinks. U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield and State Sen. Ken Winters are invited guests. All interested persons are encouraged to attend.

Oct. 14…NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Hopkinsville’s monthly support group meeting for family, friends and caregivers of people with a mental illness is scheduled Tuesday, 6-7:30 p.m. at Western State Hospital’s training center (on top of hill, around back). Oct. 16…The Caldwell County REPUBLICAN WOMEN’S CLUB will meet Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Majestic Steak House. Visitors are welcome.

Oct. 21…CCHS Class of 1968 members plan to meet Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Taco John’s, at 6 p.m. for a meal. This is planned as a fun time for all class members, spouses, friends and children. This is the first of what the group plans to be monthly meetings. Everyone is welcome.

Oct. 21…The Caldwell County High School SBDM Council meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the high school library. This meeting is rescheduled from Oct. 7.

Oct. 24…The CHAMBER APPRECIATION LUNCH is planned on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library.

Oct. 27…Jim Pearce Camp 2527, Sons of Confederate Veterans, meets at 7 p.m. Monday at George Coon Public Library.
