Oct. 12…CELEBRATE RECOVERY, a Christian 12-step pro­­­gram for addiction co-dependency, any other hurts, habits and hangups is planned Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in the Northside Baptist Church Sanctuary. A meal is served and the group extends a welcome to all interested.

Oct. 13…The opening of the Democratic Headquar­ters in the former office of Dr. Frank Giannini on South Jefferson Street, is planned Monday at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be served.

Oct. 13…The annual LAKES AREA GOP CLUB COLUM­BUS DAY PICNIC will be Monday at 5 p.m. at the large pavilion at Kuttawa beach. Club members will provide hot dogs, sides and drinks. U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield and State Sen. Ken Winters are invited guests. All interested persons are encouraged to attend.

Oct. 14…NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Hopkinsville’s monthly support group meeting for family, friends and caregivers of people with a mental illness is scheduled Tuesday, 6-7:30 p.m. at Western State Hospital’s training center (on top of hill, around back). Oct. 21…CCHS Class of 1968 members plan to meet Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Taco John’s, at 6 p.m. for a meal. This is planned as a fun time for all class members, spouses, friends and children. This is the first of what the group plans to be monthly meetings. Everyone is welcome.

Oct. 21…The Caldwell County High School SBDM Council meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the high school library. This meeting is rescheduled from Oct. 7.

Oct. 25…ROWLAND CEMETERY will have a WORK DAY on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. All interested are urged to attend and help. In case of rain, the work day changes to Saturday, Nov. 1.

Now Available…Students at Caldwell County High School can pick up 2009 Governor’s Scholars Pro­­­­­gram applications in the high school guidance office. Applications must be turned in to Mrs. Judy Ed­­wards by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. To be eligible to apply, the student must be in the 11th grade, have taken the PSAT, SAT or ACT and have good academic standing.
