Oct. 16…A Princeton GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP meets Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ogden Methodist Church. Open to the public, there is no charge to attend.
Oct. 16…The FREDONIA CLOTHES CLOSET is open Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. at the Fredonia First Baptist Church Family Life Center. (Old Fredonia School, use double door entrance at the back of the building.) Any person in need of clothing is welcome. Also, the clothes closet is currently accepting clothing.

Oct. 18…A FREE YARD SALE is planned by the Fredonia First Baptist Church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the gym at the church’s Family Life Center at 306 Cassidy Avenue (formerly the Fredonia School. All items are free.
Oct. 18…Caldwell County CANCER SUPPORT GROUP meets on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the George Coon Library. The group is scheduled to meet every other Saturday.
Oct. 18…A FALL COAT FUND-RAISER planned Saturday at the Regional Fire Training Center will feature dining and entertainment. The event will be 6-8 p.m. and admission is $10. All proceeds to toward buying coats for the less fortunate children in the Caldwell County school system. The event is sponsored by Northside Baptist Church, Southside Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Generations Sunday School Class with tickets available at each of the churches and from Laura Brandon at First Soutern National Bank and Colleen Millikan at Hairport Beauty Salon.

Oct. 19…A Caldwell County Sportsman Club membership TRAPSHOOT is scheduled on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the sportsman range on U.S. 62-East.
Oct. 19…CELEBRATE RECOVERY, a Christian 12-step program for addiction co-dependency, any other hurts, habits and hangups is planned Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in the Northside Baptist Church Sanctuary. A meal is served and the group extends a welcome to all interested.

Plan ahead…
Oct. 21…CCHS Class of 1968 members plan to meet Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Taco John’s, at 6 p.m. for a meal. This is planned as a fun time for all class members, spouses, friends and children. This is the first of what the group plans to be monthly meetings. Everyone is welcome.
Oct. 21…The Caldwell County High School SBDM Council meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the high school library. This meeting is rescheduled from Oct. 7.
Oct. 24…The CHAMBER APPRECIATION LUNCH is planned on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library.
Oct. 25…ROWLAND CEMETERY will have a WORK DAY on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. All interested are urged to attend and help. In case of rain, the work day changes to Saturday, Nov. 1.
Oct. 25…A BARBEQUE FUND-RAISER is planned on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Ogden Memorial UMC Youth. The event will be on the Wal-Mart parking lot near Captain D’s. For preorders, persons can call the church office at 365-3528.

Nov. 7…The LYON COUNTY EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS HOLIDAY BAZAAR is planned on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 231 Main Street, Eddyville.
Now Available…Students at Caldwell County High School can pick up 2009 Governor’s Scholars Program applications in the high school guidance office. Applications must be turned in to Mrs. Judy Edwards by 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. To be eligible to apply, the student must be in the 11th grade, have taken the PSAT, SAT or ACT and have good academic standing.
Through Dec. 2…Parenting Classes are offered Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., at the Mary Jane Jones Community Center, 108 W. Green St. Classes, sponsored by Living Hope Pregnancy and Family Care Center, are free. ••If any person is MISSING A PET, contact the local ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER at 365-4652 or the CHRISTIAN COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER (887-4175). Volunteers and foster families are being recruited to assist the program locally. Staffed by volunteers, the Caldwell County Animal Rescue facility, located between Food Giant and the ball fields on Cadiz Road, is open each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4-6 p.m.
