John Adrian “Johnny Mac” McCalister, 59, of San Leon, Texas, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital in Nassau Bay, Texas.
Born in Princeton, a son of the late Adrian “Bay” and Martha Satterfield McCalister, he was a 1968 graduate of Caldwell County High School, where he was a standout running back and tight end in football during the 1960’s and set a record in reception yardage that has never been broken. He was inducted into the high school Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an independent carpenter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Sidney Earl McCalister.
Survivors include two daughters, Christy Mauer of Atlantic Beach, Fla., and Laura Goodwin of Bowling Green; a son, Christopher McCalister of San Leon, Texas; and three grandchildren, Brooks Goodwin, Baylor and Caroline Mauer.
Memorial services for Johnny Mac will be conducted Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Richie McKinney and the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
