Geneva Christine James, 80, of Dawson Springs, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at 9:35 a.m. at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born Feb. 3, 1929, in Crittenden County, a daughter of the late LouVena Woodsides McDowell, she was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs and worked many years as a clerk in many businesses in the area including Woodburn’s Pharmacy, James’ Shoes and James’ Jewelry.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.R. McDowell and James McDowell; a sister, Ruth Roglaski; a son-in-law, Frank Orten; and a grandson, Jacob Franklin.
Survivors include a daughter Faye Orten of Dawson Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eldon and Becky James of Dawson Springs, and Jarvis and Beth James of Louisville and formerly of Princeton; six grandchildren, Cindy Orten, Randy Orten, Lee James, Kelly Grimes, Jordan James and Chera Stevenson; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Orten, Austin James, Kylea James, Gracie Grimes, Erica Duvall, Tyler Stevenson and Abigail Stevenson; and a great-great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Duvall.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 2, at 3 p.m. at the Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs with Bro. Harley Langley officiating, assisted by Bro. Jack Ross.
Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until the funeral hour Thursday at the Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs.
Beshear Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. James.
