Alfred D. Weir, 81, of Dawson Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at 3:06 p.m. at Dawson Springs Health & Rehab.

Born April 23, 1928, in Hopkins County, a son of the late Chester and Helen Marie Troop Weir, he was a small engine repairman in Dawson Springs. He was a member of Dawson Springs General Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael T. Weir.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Annie “Lucille” Huddleston Weir; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Johnnie Menser of Dawson Springs; three grandchildren, Angela Mullins Jones, John Lucas Menser and Lacie Marie Menser; a great-granddaughter, Alexa Mullins; and four sisters, Katherine Osborne, Cora Lee Curneal and Patsy Butler, all of Madisonville, and Gladys Barber of Greenville.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs with the Rev. Daniel Vandiver officiating, assisted by Jeff Winfrey and Clifton Vandiver.

Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs.

Active pallbearers are Eugene Huddleston, Larry Curneal, Jerry Butler, Don Curneal, Chester Curneal and Bobby Osborne.

Honorary bearers are Joe Huddleston and Herbert “Dub” Huddleston.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to the funeral hour Friday at the funeral home.
