8th grade Tigers win 6th straight

The eighth grade Tiger basketball team picked up two more wins this season, pushing its winning streak to six games and its overall record to 8-2.

The CCMS boys picked up a 36-24 victory at Lyon County on Monday, then won 31-29 Tuesday night at Webster County.

In the game at Lyon, Caldwell’s eighth graders led 14-5 at halftime and 31-10 through three quarters.

Desha Anderson led the Tigers with 17 points while Austin McGowan added nine. Jordan Young had seven points and Landon Burns three.

Lyon got eight points apiece from Jordan Gary, Brandon White and Denim Eubanks.

The following night, the Tigers trailed 11-9 at halftime at Webster before edging ahead 22-21 through three quarters.

Anderson had 16 points and Luke McCarty 13 in that victory. Young added two points.

Madison Melton topped Webster with 15 points.

Caldwell’s seventh grade team wasn’t as fortunate this week, dropping its tilts with Lyon and Webster.

On Monday, the Tigers fell behind 21-14 at halftime on the way to dropping a 43-28 decision to the Lyons.

Drake VanHooser led the CCMS scoresheet with 12 points. Damonta Hopson and Jacob Burke each had four points. Keenen Boitnott scored three points, Eli Pepper and Johnny Grace had two each and Trevor Howton one.

Brandon White had 14 to lead Lyon while Jordan Gray and Jericho Wilkerson each had 10 points. Dallas Galusha had four points, Zhenya Trimm three and Ben Tucker two.

At Webster, the Caldwell seventh graders trailed 28-5 at halftime and fell 48-17.

Kale Dyer had six points for the Tigers while VanHooser had three. Pepper, Hopson, Burke and Jacob Gibson each had two points.

Max McMain led Webster with 11 points. Zac Shoulders added 10.

The seventh grade Tigers are now 5-5.

The CCMS Tigers will next host Livingston County Tuesday night.
