10th annual event kicks off Saturday, July 27

The 10th annual Summer Slam will be Saturday, July 27.

This years Summer Slam kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with a 5K run. The run begins at the front steps of Princeton First Baptist Church, located at 300 W Main St., and ends at the First Baptist Church parking lot.

To participate, you'll need to fill out a Summer Slam registration form; they can be picked up at the HR Ministries Office and mailed back to the office at PO Box 311, Princeton, KY 42445. There is a $25 dollar entry fee that includes a Summer Slam t-shirt.

At 9:00 a.m, following the 5k, Foxy Fitness will be giving out free bananas and water to runners. At 10:00 a.m. they will be hosting a free 50 minute community Barre class.

Barre is a ballet inspired strength and toning exercise for any and all fitness levels, according to HR Ministries newsletter. Foxy Fitness is located at 115 W. Market St. For more information, contact Ilissa Beavers at 270-625-4072.

The Summer Slam Cruise In is also happening at 9:00 a.m. and going until 3:00 p.m. This will be hosted by First Baptist Church and HR Ministries. All vehicles are welcome and spectators are free to come and check out the classic cars in attendance.

Donations are accepted and will go towards the Shoe Box Charity for Children. There will also be door prizes. The Cruise In will take place in the First Baptist Church parking lot.

There will be a youth human Foosball tournament from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Youth groups can enter as many teams as desired but these teams can only have a maximum of 10 people (2 teams). There will be a $25 registration fee per form; each team member must pay this fee. All proceeds go towards sports mission. Other inflatables will open at 12:00 p.m.

The free concert will begin at 4:45 p.m. on the Caldwell County Butler Lawn. Colton Dixon: an American Idol contestant, Tauren Wells and The Color will be performing.

There will also be special guest speakers, The Freemans. Ken, Caleb and Clayton Freeman will share their family testimony.

This event is free and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the show. Concessions will also be available to purchase.
