Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville is seeking help from the community in preparation for the Christmas activities to benefit patients at WSH and residents at the Western State Nursing Facility.

Individuals, groups and businesses may participate in a variety of ways — provide gifts for men and women 18 and older. Suggested gift items include body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand lotion, knit caps and gloves, crossword/word search books, playing cards, composition books (no wire spirals), and socks; make a monetary donation to purchase additional gifts and to be used for special events and occasions throughout the year; or sponsor a unit party for a unit of 15 patients which usually costs around $150 to buy refreshments and goodies.

Support from the community will help ensure the holidays are just a bit brighter for patients and residents. For more information, contact Tony Winfield, community services coordinator at Western State Hospital, P.O. Box 2200, Hopkinsville, Ky. 42241-2200, by phone at 270-889-2823, or email at tony. winfield@ky.gov
