An upcoming radio event is designed to boost small employers who have struggled through the bogs of COVID-19 as Kentucky reopens.
On Friday, WPKY (103.3 FM) in Princeton is partnering with sister stations WKDZ (106.5 FM) and WHVO (100.9 FM) in Cadiz to host “The Greatest Comeback of All Time” — a “giving back” event striving to jump-start local businesses after closures, station CEO Beth Mann said.
“Instead of stumbling through the door, we want to hit the ground running and maximize opportunity for when customers start walking through those doors again,” Mann said.
Beginning midnight Thursday, listeners can purchase gift certificates to locally-owned businesses at cadiz.bigdealsmedia.net. The event site can also be accessed at wpkyonline.com through the “Contests, Deals, Jobs” tab and clicking the dropdown “Loyal Listener Big Deals” link.
For 24 hours, 100% of proceeds will go directly to those busi- nesses.
“If people have things they might not even need now — but will in the next 30 or 60 days — they can buy now through this site,” she said. “This will allow them to have that much-needed cash flow … to be ready.”
Chad Oliver, Princeton-Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce director, said the chamber will soon distribute some 400 masks to workers resuming their jobs.
Monday was phase one of Gov. Andy Beshear’s “Healthy At Work” reopening program.
Construction and manufacturing sectors reopened, along with office-based businesses at 50% capacity under Centers for Disease Control guidelines.
Additional reopenings are government agencies May 18; retail outlets May 20; and restaurants May 22.
