Homeschoolers take a field trip

Home schoolers are shown while on a field trip to the Caldwell County High School greenhouse during the spring.

West Kentucky Homeschool Support has an informational Play at the Park date set for 10 a.m.-noon July 25 at the Lee S. Jones Park and Pavilion in Eddyville. It will be a time for all those new to home schooling and those looking for connections to come together.

Topics covered will be laws and requirements, curriculum options, record keeping, local resources available, and more. Coordinators Natalie Lee and Tiffany Odell enjoy sharing their knowledge and support on a volunteer basis and hope to see the group grow. Since the group was established in 2016, they have been doing a co-op at the George Coon Library, have had many educational field trips and have had lots of opportunities to socialize and connect.

“The kids that have participated have without a doubt taken something positive away with their experiences,” according to a news release. “It has been awesome to see the friendships made and all the things they have learned together.”

This is a free event, open to anyone interested. Kentucky Department of Education has a Homeschool Packet on its website for more information. For more information about the group, contact Natalie Lee at 270-217-2405 or the groups Facebook Page West Ky Homeschool Support.
