The Princeton-Caldwell County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors called a special meeting Monday to discuss bids for IDA surplus property on U.S. 62.
The IDA owns surplus property on U.S. 62. It is 1.033 acres — a 100-foot-by-450-foot parcel — located next to the Christ Tabernacle Church and Bremner Food Group Inc.
Bremner Food Group Inc., and other IDA property border the property, and U.S. 62 borders it to the north.
Earlier this month, the board advertised an invitation for bids for the undeveloped land.
Christ Tabernacle Church Pastor Troy Jent attended a previous IDA meeting to propose to the board the church’s goal of acquiring the property. He said the church is interested in expanding church services by building additional facilities on the church’s property.
Jent said the church organization plans to build a new sanctuary if given the opportunity tobuy the IDA surplus property.
The board accepted the church’s $10,001 bid — it was the only bid submitted to the IDA.
As part of the bid specs, the IDA requires the church to conduct a survey of the property.
The IDA also specified within the bid specs that IDA retain a 30-foot-by-450-foot easement across the surplus property for future road access and other industrial development projects.
