LCSO introduces new certified K9s

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is happy to introduce its two certified police canines and their handlers. This is a first for the department, and it says it couldn’t be more proud. Pictured are (left) Deputy Seth P’Pool and his agency canine “Stelvio” (aka: Sly); a Dutch Shepherd and (right) Senior Deputy Joe Witherspoon and his agency canine “Kaos”; a Belgian Malinois. Both canines were trained in Kentucky and certified with their handler in Tennessee. Both canines have already been busy helping their handlers and other agencies make drug cases in Lyon County. The canine program is currently funded almost entirely by donations and asset forfeiture funds, according to the sheriff’s office. The department also had many cooperators and donors to this program who have believed in what it’s trying to accomplish, and expressed thanks to them.
