The team at Magney Legacy Ridge Farm, located on Pleasant Valley Road, has been sharing their knowledge about sustainable agriculture and their organically-grown vegetables with the community this spring.
The farm team celebrated National CSA Day on February 28 by performing “Random Acts of Vegetables” throughout their western Kentucky service area.
The team made stops at small businesses, healthcare providers, agriculture partners, media offices, and the homes of new customers, surprising them with produce from the farm and sharing information about Community Supported Agriculture.
At each stop, the Magney Farm team posed for photos with vegetable recipients and posted the photos to Facebook throughout the day. Each post included the hash tag #randomactsofvegetables.
The Magney team made stops at Caldwell Medical Center, the University of Kentucky Research and Education Center, George Coon Public Library, WPKY Radio Station and new customer homes in Princeton. They also presented veggies throughout McCracken County, targeting educators and health care providers.
At each stop, the Magney team was able to distribute postcards and answer questions about the farm and how to join as a CSA member.
Also on National CSA Day, Magney Farm was able to partner with a local homeschool group for an educational program on sustainable agriculture and the Magney Legacy Ridge Farm business.
Hannah Magney offered the program to the Princeton Rotary Interact Club for Homeschoolers. She offered a variety of fun and educational activities for the middle and high school students in the club.
The participants were also able to sample locally-grown organic vegetables and take some home to share with their families.
Magney Legacy Ridge Farm currently serves customers across Caldwell, Lyon, Trigg, Marshall, McCracken and Calloway counties.
Community members may place orders through the website magneyfarm.locallygrown.net and have vegetables delivered straight to their door.
