With 13 years of law enforcement experience under his belt, Joe Don Doom was ready to take on the task of owning the Armory Gun Shop.

"I worked over at the prison farm for about 12 years and I was a deputy jailer at the jail here for about 15 months," Doom said.

He has wanted to have his own business for as long as he can remember. He started this journey back in December after speaking to the former owner of the shop, Joe Storms.

"I asked him if he wanted to sell it and he said he would, so now here we are," Doom said.

He has gotten a tremendous response from the community since taking over.

"People have been coming in and checking the place out and I've sold some stuff already," Doom said. "It was a pretty good sales week my first two weeks; it's been really good."

He has brought more consistent hours to the shop and hopes to have more inventory in the future.

The store is located at 201 N. Harrison St. and the current hours are:

*Monday - appointment only

*Tuesday - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
