Unemployment rates rose in Caldwell and 94 other Kentucky counties between November 2018 and November 2019, while rates fell in Lyon and 17 more counties and stayed the same in seven counties, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Monthly jobless rates were released Thursday, showing Caldwell County's unemployment rate rose from 4% in November 2018 to 4.4% two months ago. However, that included only 241 people actively seeking work and is down 0.1 points from October 2019.
Meantime, the unemployment rate in the nine-county Pennyrile Region was 4.5% in November of last year, 3.8% in the state and 3.3% across the nation.
Lyon County's jobless dropped 0.6 points between November 2018 and November 2019 to 4.1%. The rate in October 2019 was 4.2%
Fayette and Oldham counties recorded the lowest jobless rates in the Commonwealth at 2.9 percent each. Magoffin County recorded the state's highest unemployment rate at 12.7 percent.
