The HOPE Family Resource Center and COPE Youth Service Center is holding its annual Fantastic Friday school supply giveaway on July 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Caldwell County Elementary School gym.
Stephanie Randall, coordinator from the HOPE Family Resource Center, said this event begin in 1991 to help families in the Caldwell school district with the expense of getting their children ready to begin a new school year.
"At Fantastic Friday, each student receives a pack of school supplies," Randall said. "Community Partners are invited to set up booths at the event to distribute information on services they offer for the community."
She said most of these community partners hand out school supplies or other goodies to those in attendance.
"HOPE and COPE Center purchases the school supply packs utilizing community donations and monies from the FRYSC grant," Randall said.
The average annual cost for Fantastic Friday is $15,000.
"The community has been generous in their donations and support of the centers and all programs and events held," Randall said.
She said HOPE and COPE Centers greatly appreciate the support they receive from the community.
"This year, we are excited that HR Ministries will be joining us," Randall said. "They will be providing fun activities for the kids that attend."
Registration forms were mailed to the families that attended the event last year, however, everyone is invited to attend. Extra registration forms will be available day of event.
"School supplies are distributed on a first come first serve basis and students must be enrolled in Caldwell County Schools," Randall said. "The HOPE and COPE Centers have school supplies available throughout the school year for any needs the students have."
