The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County has announced the grand re-opening of the Pennyroyal Area Museum on Thursday. A ribbon cutting will be hosted at 3 p.m. at the museum located at 127 E. Ninth St. in Hopkinsville with comments and tours of the building to follow.

With up to $1 million provided by a special transient room tax put in place by Christian Fiscal Court, the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County has renovated the old post office, the home of the Pennyroyal Area Museum since 1976.

Built in 1913-15, the building was in need of upgrades to provide a space that can best showcase area history. In addition to the building renovation, an updated exhibition was designed to tell stories of the community.

Light refreshments will be served at next week's grand reopening, which is free and open to the public.
