The Tiger Den, once a restaurant, is nearing its one year anniversary as a general store.

Owners Donnie Jenkins and his son, Jacob, opened the store on Oct. 12, last year.

Jacob Jenkins said they sell firearms, knives and ammunition.

"We started doing gun and knife shows probably about five or six years ago," Jenkins said. "We always kind of talked about opening up a shop and one day this place just kinda came up for sale."

After buying the building, they remodeled the inside and outside.

"We did all that we could do and we had to have professionals do the heating and air and the plumbing," Jenkins said.

The first thing he remembers selling after opening was a nine mm Smith and Wesson.

"We started off with about 11 guns and maybe 100 knives and now we have 100 guns and about 200 knives here right now," Jenkins said. "We've definitely been able to grow the inventory, so that's good."

He said he enjoys meeting the people that come in.

"Especially the older generation -- (they remember) when this was a restaurant, and they come in here and tell us stories," Jenkins said.

The Tiger Den General Store is located at 504 Dawson Road, Princeton. Its operating hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"We've got good deals and we'll definitely treat customers fair," Jenkins said. "It doesn't matter if they come in to buy a bag of chips or buy a gun, we're going to treat them exactly the same."

They also offer layaway, personalized orders, pawning, trading and hunting/fishing licenses.
