Nathan Hardrick

Nathan Hardrick of Princeton wanted to try something different. So, the 14-year-old son of Brandon and Meredith Hardrick chose the beginner category of go-cart racing for the Purple Plate. He finished in second place race after race and once wondered whether he should change strategy. His dad told him, “Run your race.” That advice paid off, because the year’s overall competition is based on a cumulative point system. His consistency of finishing near the top catapulted the Caldwell County freshman to the very top. He recently ended the season with the highest overall point total, winning the year’s No. 1 “Grand Champion” trophy. Officials presented it to him at 41-A Speedway in Tennessee.
