July 24, at 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on 139 South at Kevil Curve. Investigation revealed that a gold 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Brittany A. Griggs, 25, of Chester, Illinois, was traveling north on 139 South when she left the right side of the roadway and struck a guy wire attached to a utility pole causing the pole to break in half. Further investigation revealed that Griggs was under the influence of intoxicating substances and she was found to be in possession of marijuana and controlled substances. She was taken into custody and charged with DUI, first offense, possession of marijuana, no insurance, and third-degree possession of controlled substance.
July 25, at 11:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to a two vehicle head on collision with injuries near the 800 block of West Washington Street. Investigation revealed that a yellow 2013 Chevy Spark driven by Billie G. Jenkins, 69, of Grand Rivers, was traveling west on West Washington and collided head on with a white 2019 Hyundai Tucson driven by Alan N. Ladd, 72, of Princeton, that was traveling east on West Washington. Further investigation revealed that Jenkins’ vehicle struck Ladd’s vehicle in the front in the east bound lane causing Jenkins’ airbags to deploy. Jenkins was extricated by the Princeton Fire Department and taken to Caldwell County Medical Center by Caldwell EMS to be flown by helicopter to Skyline Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. According to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville, Jenkins was pronounced dead at 6:41 p.m., on 07/25/2021.
