Rollover

Authorities said while traveling southbound on I-69, Samuel Mark Engle, 23, of Gilbertsville, was checking his phone for directions when he veered off the left rumble strip toward the median. He then overcorrected, crossed the slow lane of travel, and ran off the right hand shoulder, causing the Jeep to roll five times before coming to rest on its wheels.

On June 7, at approximately 2:02 p.m., A crash with possible injuries happened on I-69. Caldwell County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, Deputy Jason Kirk noted Samuel Mark Engle, 23, of Gilbertsville, was traveling southbound in a 2010 Jeep and while checking his phone for directions, he veered off the left rumble strip toward the median. He then overcorrected the vehicle to the right, crossed the slow lane of travel and ran off the right hand should of the roadway. The Jeep rolled five times, traveled about 125 feet and came to final rest on its wheels. Engle was transported to Caldwell Medical Center. Kirk was assisted at the scene by the Princeton Fire and Rescue, Deputy Jeremy Kolba and Stinnett’s wrecker service.
