Glenna Louise Shinall Rowland has been selected by the Fredonia activities committee to be grand marshal of the Fredonia Christmas Parade.

Rowland is a lifelong resident of Fredonia, and a 1964 graduate of Fredonia High School. She is married to Steve Rowland and they have two children, Stephanie Etheridge and Angela Seibert (Jim); and four grandchildren, Tyler Etheridge, Lacy Ford (Kenny), MaKenzie Siebert and Madelyn Seibert; and one great-granddaughter, Stevie Lynn Ford.

Rowland has been an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and CPWM for over 50 years; served several years on the Fredonia City Council and was instrumental in heading up many projects that enriched the Fredonia community during her tenure on the council. The Fredonia Parade was one of the most notable community projects was involved with. She has always been willing to offer her hand with whatever she was needed to do.

It has been noted she has a big heart and is loved by everyone in Fredonia.

The Christmas Parade will be held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 3. The theme for this year’s parade is “What Christmas Means to Me.” The activities committee encourages everyone participating to decorate their float to reflect the theme. Parade route will start at the Old Fredonia School parking lot which faces the Fredonia First Baptist Church. Participants are asked to enter by Fredonia City Hall and go toward the church.

When leaving the church parking lot, the parade will proceed toward the entrance of Akridge Farm Supply.

Santa will be in Fredonia at the end of the parade and will visit kids at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, where cookies, hot chocolate and music will be available for the kids. For more information or questions, contact Michelle Travis at 270-625-6936.
