Shelby Thomas joins the faculty at Caldwell County High School this year, working on her practicum in agricultural education.

Thomas is working toward her degree at Murray State University and expects to graduate on Nov. 21. She is scheduled to teach at CCHS through the end of the fall semester.

“I like being able to teach people and information them on things that I feel are important,” she said. “They tend to get misled on some things on social media and television.”

Thomas said her interest in agriculture came when she was a student herself.

“I was an eight-year member of 4-H and did FFA,” she said. “We raised a few beef cattle and had some gardens and horses and chickens, so it just kind of seemed to fit.”

Thomas’ instruction this year begins with equine science. She is a native of Pekin, Indiana.
