The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5595 of Princeton will host a Veterans Day program at the courthouse at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The guest speakers will be Princeton Mayor Kota Young, Caldwell Court Clerk Toni Watson and Caldwell County Attorney Roy Massey IV.

The American Legion Post 68 of Kuttawa will also take part in the program.

Following the program, veterans, active-duty military and their spouses are invited to a luncheon at the VFW veterans home at 121 E. Main St. Those taking part in the luncheon are asked to wear masks, and people’s temperature will be taken at the door.

The date and hour of the program coincide with the date and time that the armistice was signed ending World War I in 1918. Originally created to honor the veterans of that war, in 1947, it became a national holiday to honor all U.S. veterans.
