The deadline to be registered to vote in the upcoming general election is Monday. That is also the deadline to change party affiliation or a voter’s address.
Those wanting to check their registration may call the county clerk’s office at 270-365-6754 or go to vrsws.sos.ky.gov/vic.
Caldwell County Clerk Toni Watson said those who turn 18 by Nov. 3 may register to vote in this election before the deadline.
Watson said that the state had not yet approved her voting plan as of Thursday.
“What we’re planning on doing is having the three county precincts open on Election Day, plus voting in the basement and the main floor of the courthouse,” she said.
The county precincts will be at the Fredonia Lions Club, Donaldson Baptist Church and Cross Roads Christian Church in Bucksnort.
“All the other precincts will vote in the courthouse basement and on the main floor of the courthouse,” Watson said.
Early voting begins on Oct. 13 and runs through Nov. 2. It will be held at the courthouse from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except for Oct. 22 and Oct. 29, when people can vote from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“All of the early voting will be held in the basement of the courthouse,” Watson said.
The courthouse will also be open on the three Saturdays before the election: from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 17, noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Those wanting to apply for a mail-in ballot have until this Friday to do so. Those ballots may be mailed to the courthouse or hand-delivered to a dropbox at the courthouse.
