Billy Gene Mitchell, 88, of Princeton, died Friday, June 21, 2019, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
A son of the late Moscoe and Naomi Tandy Mitchell, he was a retired superintendent for Princeton Golf and Country Club and was a member of Princeton First Baptist Church, the Elks and V.F.W. He owned and operated the Billy Mitchell Lawncare business for the last 20 years and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kentucky Turf Grass Association in 2018. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jane Franklin Mitchell; a brother, Donnie Mitchell; and a sister, Carol Mitchell.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Cotthoff and husband David of Hopkinsville; a son, William “Bill” Mitchell and wife Greta of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Amber, Joshua, Mitchell and Ashley; four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Hudson, Caroline and Luke.
Memorial visitation was held Sunday, June 23, from 3 p.m. to the service time at 5 p.m. at Princeton First Baptist Church., with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating.
