Charlie Slaton, 82, of Princeton, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, at Princeton Health and Rehab Center.

He was a son of the late William Lafayette and Virginia Marie Dunbar Slaton. He was a retired service manager for Trice Hughes Chevrolet, an Army veteran and member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He was one of the original members of the Caldwell County Rescue Squad and a member of Woodmen Lodge #92.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sylvia Jeanette Merrick Slaton; a son, Charles “Chuck” Slaton Jr. and wife Hestella of Princeton; a grandchild, Nickie Doyle; two stepgrandchildren, Mike Oliver and Melissa Lefan; great-grandchild, Cael Logan Doyle; and a sister, Doris Marie Fraley of Lyon County.

Memorial graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. James Shuck officiating.

Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton was in charge of arrangements.
