Christabel Brown Nichols, 96, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Princeton Health and Rehab.

Christabel was born on January 11, 1924, in Shady Grove, to the late Alvin and Lura Harper Brown. Christabel graduated with a bachelors degree from Western Kentucky University. She would soon start her teaching career at Elkton where she was also a cheerleading coach. After ten years in Elkton, Christabel would come to Caldwell County High School where she would spend twenty-seven years teaching history and geography. Christabel always had perfect penmanship and always dressed to the nines in her Pendleton Suits. After more than three decades of education, she would she would retire. In retirement, Christabel was a member of the Caldwell County Retired Teachers and enjoyed Cracker Barrel where she would eat her lunch of only vegetables everyday. Christabel was also a member of Donaldson Baptist Church.

Christabel is survived by her nieces, Carol Simpson, Joann Mitchell, Alice Segree, and Shrilda French; six nephews, Don, Gary, Kenny, Mark, and Alan Nichols, and Tom Heaton; cousins, Steve, Stan and Sidney Thompson, Mary Kaye, Susan, Jennifer and Bruce Bennett; and her caregiver, Reba Bloodworth.

In addition to her parents, Christabel is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Lee Nichols.

Private graveside services will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. John Segree officiating. Morgan’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
