CADIZ — Cookye Tyler, 76, of Cadiz, died Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Mercy Health — Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Born April 21, 1944, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Catherine (McKinney) Peek. Cookye was a 1963 graduate of Caldwell County High School and afterwards obtained her Master’s degree in Nursing from Murray State University. She retired after 25 years as a RN, having been employed by Trigg County Hospital, Jennie Stuart Medical Center, and Caldwell County Medical Center at different times during those years. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending her time reading, shopping, and being “Mawmaw” to her grandchildren. Cookye was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry Ray Tyler of Cadiz; a son, Jerry Dale (Midge) Tyler of Lebanon, Tennessee; a daughter, Teressa “Puddy” (Wendell) Jones of Princeton; three grandchildren, Wendy (Taylor) Ladd, Presley Tyler, and Halen Tyler; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Ladd and Waylon Cash Tyler.
Arrangements were handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., where the family received friends from noon until the funeral service time of 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2020, with Rev. Kyle Noffsinger and Rev. Billy Joe Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
