DAVENPORT, Iowa — Coy E.“Gene” Oliver, 81, Davenport, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at his home. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Gene will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12th at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be prior to mass from 9— 10:30 a.m. Due to restrictions from the pandemic, masks must be worn and social distancing respected. The funeral services will be live-streamed. Honoring his wishes cremation has been accorded and inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home assisted.
Coy Eugene Oliver was born on Mar. 9, 1939, in Princeton, Kentucky to Coy E. and Willie Mae (Rogers) Oliver. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Orr on July 2, 1966.
Gene was an owner/operator of the former Threaded Products in Eldridge. Gene served our community as Past President of the West-End Little League, Head of Maintenance committee at Camp Conestoga Girl Scout Camp, Former Board of Director for John O’Donnell Stadium, Former Board of Director St. Alphonsus Credit Union, Former Board of Director for Alcoa Credit Union now known as Accentra Credit Union and Past President of Knights of Columbus Club
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Kathryn and their sons; Brian (Renee Elias) Oliver, Gaylord, Michigan, and Kevin (Sandra) Oliver, Savage, Minnesota; five grandchildren; his siblings; Grace Baker and Nancy Wallace both of Princeton, Kentucky, and Ruby (Butch) Miller, Rock Falls, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Sally Ploehn, and brother-in-law, James (Mary) Orr all of Davenport; numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended family,
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Addison; sisters, Gladys Litsey, Frieda Hinds, and Amy Otto; brothers, Vernon, Howard, Hollis, Ernest, William, and Lonnie.
