Harold C. “Sammy” Jones, 80, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020, at the Princeton Nursing and Rehab Center. Sammy was a member of First Baptist Church of Princeton, a lifetime member of the KHSAA, Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, Vice Principal, and Mentor to many in the Caldwell County School System for 27 years.
After retiring from education, he was employed by Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park in Dawson Springs, for 16 years. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, UK Basketball, and any sport or activity where his grandchildren were involved. Sammy also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf but most importantly was the time he spent with family.
He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Dockery Jones; daughter, Sammie Fortner, and husband, Rollie of Princeton; son, Jeff Jones and wife, Robin of Lyon County; five grandchildren, Lindsey Williamson, D.J. Gates, Kayla Heaton, Samm Peek, and Jake Jones; five step-grandchildren, Shane Fortner, Amy Simms, Nicole Letcher, Ramsey Hopper, Elijah Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs.
