Lacy C. “Boots” Dixon, 89, of Caldwell County, and formerly of Trigg County, died Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehabilitation in Cadiz.
Born July 29, 1929, in Trigg County, he was the son of the late Marvin Delbert and Elva Mae McCoy Dixon. He worked for 30 years as a millwright at Calumet Steel in Chicago Heights, Ill., and was a farmer. He was a conservationist and member of Wallonia Baptist Church. He was a 50-year member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121 and was a member of the Dixon Cemetery Association, helping preserve the Dixon Cemetery, located in Land Between the Rivers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Nell Alexander Dixon; a brother, Marvin Glen “Babe” Dixon; and a sister, Willie Mae Bridges.
Survivors include three sons, Jeff (Jeanne) Dixon of St. Louis, Mo., Michael (DeAnna) Dixon of Herndon, and Col. Mitchell Dixon, USAF (fiancé M.J. Evangelista) of Springfield, Va.; two daughters, Judy (Tim) Lacheta of Madisonville, and Lan (Larry) Steck of Rochester, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Taylor (Morgan) Lacheta, Ashley Lacheta (James) Young, Abigail Steck (Ryan) Murphy, Grace Steck, Lacy Steck, Luke Steck, Olivia Dixon and Sarah Dixon; a great-grandson, Brecken Lacheta; and a brother, Donald (Lawon) Dixon of Cadiz.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz, with the Rev. Kirk Greenfield officiating.
Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery in Land Between the Rivers (LBL).
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the funeral home.
