Leroy “Papaw” Watkins, 85, of Princeton, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Caldwell Medical Center.
A son of the late Garnett Watkins and Carolyn Harris, he ws a retired foreman with Kentucky Stone and was a veteran of the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a member of Kincheloe Memorial Church of God of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline Harris Watkins; two daughters, Karen Davis and Peggy Riley; and two brothers, Charles Hill and Lois Watkins.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Joycelyn Elliott, and Delessia and Marvin Dequentin, all of Princeton; five sons, Bruce Watkins of Evansville, Ind., Wendell Taylor, Greg Riley and Chris Riley, all of Princeton, and Freddie Taylor of Lexington; 32 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Baker of Cadiz; two sisters-in-law, Christine dooley of Tennessee, and Tipnice and Aubrey Smith of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8 at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, with military rites being held.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the service time Monday, July 8, at the funeral home.
