Marvin (“Marv”) Lowery, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the age of 82. Marv was one of three children to Everett Lowery and Omie Dale Boyd-Lowery of Princeton, Kentucky. Upon graduation from Caldwell County High, he proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy.
Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he returned to Princeton, to meet the love of his life, Carol Noel. The two met at a local hotspot, proving that there truly is “Love at First Sight.” The couple was married on July 5, 1963 and recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
After their wedding, Marv and Carol moved to Columbus, Ohio, for Marv’s job with North American Aviation. Their son, Steve, was born shortly after their one year wedding anniversary. Marvin later transferred to McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and the young family moved to St. Ann, Missouri.
Marvin transitioned from McDonnell Douglas to a more stable career, employed by retail giants K-Mart and, finally, Wal-mart. After rising into a management role with K-Mart…their daughter, Cindy, was born.
Marvin enjoyed coaching their son Steve’s little league baseball, football and basketball teams, visiting the nearby Lambert Airport to watch planes fly over Lindbergh Boulevard or having a special dinner at Red Lobster (crab legs were his absolute favorite). Marvin also loved golf and, with his natural abilities, did quite well at snow skiing…while in his mid-60s. He also worked hard at keeping the perfect landscaping, often spending the entire day mowing, trimming, watering and grooming their beautiful yard at home.
As is natural for any St. Louis resident, Marvin was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. The family loved attending games at Busch Stadium when they could. In his final days, Marvin was looking forward to watching the Cardinals return to television this season.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Carol; son, Steve (Angie) Lowery; daughter, Cindy (Adam) Lowery-Graber; grandsons, Jeremy Lowery and Brayden Graber; sister, Bobbie (Earl) Burden; brother, David (Donna) Lowery; several cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends and former co-workers.
Marvin was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As was his way in life, Marvin sought to serve and help others by donating his remains to the medical program at Saint Louis University. No formal services are planned at this time.
