Maxine Gray, 87, Cadiz, died Saturday, December 19, 2020, at her home.
Funeral Services were Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at King’s Funeral Home with Kenny Shipley and Rev. Dane Hodges officiating. Burial followed in the Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Trigg County, she was born on January 12, 1933, the daughter of the late Troy and Donnie Henry.
Maxine was a Homemaker and a partner with her husband, Carl, on the family farm and construction business. She was a Charter member of the Cadiz Gideons Ladies Auxiliary where she served as President and served in other leadership roles in the Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Hurricane Baptist Church for more than 70 years, where she was an active member of the WMU and worked in the preschool department. Maxine enjoyed growing a large garden, canning, cooking, and baking. She loved spending time with her daughters, granddaughters, and great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Gray; sister, Charlene Henry Martin; brother, Ralph Henry; and nephews, Edd Gray and Ronnie Henry.
Survivors include three daughters; Judy Gray Rutter, Hendersonville, Tennessee, Ruth Gray, Princeton, Martha Gray Shipley (Kenny), Cadiz; five grandchildren, Jennifer Rutter Brown (John-Mark), Lenoir City, Tennessee; Lydia Rutter, Madison, Tennessee; Emily Shipley Reidford (Derek), Wadesville, Indiana; Ellen Shipley Donaldson (Graham), Princeton; Sarah Shipley Utley (Caleb), Dixon; great-grandson, Elijah Ray Reidford, Wadesville, Indiana; nephews, Joe Gray, Princeton, John Gray, Hodgenville, David Cunningham, Cadiz, Chris Henry, California, Patrick Henry, Cadiz; nieces, Rebecca Knight, Bumpus Mills, Tennessee; Sarah Neighborgall, Cadiz, Vonda Gray Allen, Hodgenville, Eunice Stone, Cadiz; and a number of great-nephews and great-nieces.
