Rev. William G. “Bill” Johnson, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020.
Born Sept. 11, 1944, in Princeton, he was a son of the late James Glenn Johnson who died in 1976, and the late Samye Erline Johnson who died in 1998. He graduated from Daviess County High School in 1962, and joined the United States Air Force, serving until 1966. He was stationed in S.E. Asia in 1965 during the Vietnam War. He worked for the government at Newark Air Force Station, following an honorable discharge from the military, until his resignation in 1972, at which time he became a full time minister. He was ordained as a Sourthern Baptist Minister at First Baptist Church in Heath, Ohio, and became a bi-vocational pastor of Licking Baptist Church in 1971. He later was the founding pastor of Linnwood Baptist Church in Amsterdam, Ohio, where he served until 1975. He pastored churches in Ohio, Kentucky and Colorado. In 1977, he became a full-time evangelist and started F.A.I.T.H. Ministries in Colorado, Springs, Colo., and preached revival services across the United States and England, until 1995. He started a Christian printing business, Anchor Printing in Green Mountain, Colo., and later moved to Florissant, Colo., in 2005, where he served with with Pete’s Place Firewood Ministry, The Community Church Storehouse, The Baptist Pantry, all 501 3c organizations.
Survivors include his three children, Nancy Marie Hayden-Huerta (Juan), and Cheryl Lynn Evans (Eric), all of Denver, Colo., and William G. “Billy” Johnson II of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Daniel, Hannah and Zack; and a brother, Jack L. Johnson (Patti) of Newark, Ohio.
