Wanetta Ruth Franklin, 88, of Princeton, peacefully departed on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Baptist Health Paducah. Wanetta was a loving wife and mother, an excellent cook, and an impeccable housekeeper. She worked for many years in the foodservice and restaurant industry. She also worked as a childcare provider and an independent housekeeper. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Crittenden County. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Wanetta is survived by her husband of 56 years, William E. Franklin; two daughters, Linda Leeper of Newport Richie, Florida, Karen (Stan) Gardner of Princeton; two stepdaughters, Deborah Ann Franklin of Okinawa, Japan, Yoshko of Tokyo, Japan; two sons, William Paul (Tina) Franklin of Louisville, Perry (Nancy) Wright of Princeton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wanetta was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Gipson; mother, Mary Hazel Gipson Baker; stepfather, Roy Baker; son, James “Jimmy” Wesley Wright; son-in-law, Lee Leeper; two grandchildren and one brother, Bernie Gipson.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31, 2020, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
