William “Bill” Martin, age 93, of Princeton, KY, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at River’s Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa.
Bill was a hard worker who retired from the Illinois-Central-Gulf Railroad, was Caldwell County Sherriff from 1966-1970, worked dispatch for his own trucking company, all while running the family farm. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army, served as a deacon of First Baptist Church of Princeton, PCA Board, Farm Credit Bank Board, and member of the Masonic Lodge #82.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Tina (Bob) Steltenpohl of Crestwood, KY; son, J.R. (Dena) Martin of Princeton; brother, James C. (Alma) Martin of Sarasota, FL; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Toni) Martin, Tate (Alexis) Martin, Evan Martin, Wade (Jessica) Martin, Martin (Morgan) Steltenpohl, Katherine Steltenpohl, Robert Steltenpohl; five great-grandchildren, Harmony Martin, Nova Martin, Joel Martin, Parker Brown, Raiden Martin; one more great-grandbaby on the way “Clark”; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Martin; parents, Ray B. and Lillian Wright Martin; one infant sister.
Visitation was held Sunday, June 7, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Princeton from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A Masonic service was held at 7:00 PM, Sunday, June 7, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Princeton.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 11:00 AM, June 8, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Princeton with burial following at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
