William “Bill” McConnell, 81, of Hopkinsville, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Born Feb. 4, 1938, in Princeton, he was a son of the late Sam and Eufaula McConnell. He was a principal with the Christian County Public School System, having served at several schools, with the majority of his time spent at the Christian County Middle School and Pembroke Elementary. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday School for many years, was a greeter and member of the Crisis Ministry team. He was a member of the Christian County Retired Teachers Association and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim McConnell.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki McConnell; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura McConnell and Mark Morris of Pembroke; stepdaughters, Lisa Hodges and husband Michael of Newburgh, Ind., and Kim Bass and husband Michael of Paducah; grandchildren, Carter (Holly) Morris, Ashley (Kyle) Gorman, Meghan Hodges, Will Bass and Ben Bass; and a brother, Thomas (Carolyn) McConnell of Lexington.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tim Jernigan officiating.

Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.
