With members in five counties, our Lake Barkley Chamber of Commerce continues to grow and cover the Lake Barkley region. Our mission continues to be "Leading our businesses in economic growth through leadership, education, advocacy, relationship development and innovation."
In conjunction with the Lake Barkley Partnership, our Chamber recently sponsored a Work Ready Community workshop aimed at discussing what is needed in order to make Lyon County a 'work ready community'.
The Work Ready Communities program requires communities to meet criteria in six key areas that are critical to producing a productive workforce. Criteria include high school graduation rates, National Career Readiness Certificate holders, community commitment, educational attainment, soft skills and Internet availability.
Being certified as a 'work ready' community lets potential businesses thinking to relocate to our area know that we have a workforce that is willing and able to meet their needs.
Thanks to city and county leaders and local business owners that joined us at the Work Ready Community round table discussion. We were able to identify key issues that need addressing in our community and develop an action plan to move forward.
